Second Life is an Online Virtual world populated by people from all across the globe. Citizens in Second Life exist as Virtual Characters, or Avatars, and can travel from place to place through the SL Viewer. Second Life has more than 18 million users; within the last 60 days, more than 1.45 million users have logged in, and at any given time, between 50,000 to 90,000 people are logged in and using Second Life.
There is music everywhere in Second Life. From Internet Radio streams, to Live DJ's spinning at clubs and events, to Live Music Performances, Music in SL is a driving force in it's growth. Your First Experience in Second Life:
As a Relax Music Group Client, you will be greeted by one of our SL Guides, who will begin your orientation to Second Life. Our guides will take you around SL, show you many of the key places and how to find more as well as help you get a firm foundation for understanding how things work in Second Life.
It is highly recommended that you have a Headset/Microphone so you can utilize the Voice Communications capabilities of SL, as it will be easier for both you and your guide during the learning process.
Let your SL Guide know who you are, what your musical style is all about, and what your personality is like. They will help you develop your Avatar to give you the look and attitude that best represents you, your style and your music. They will also take you shopping for all the essentials including hair, eyes, skin, body shape, clothes and an instrument.
Your Music in Second Life:
Next you will go to Trax, the Live Music Resource Center in SL. Here you will have a personal guide to teach you about how live broadcasting from your home or studio works, what software to use, and how to get your particular gear plugged in to sound the best in SL. Your guide will talk you through the setup and installation of your equipment and help with your first sound check. We make sure that your Live Performance will Sound Great in Second LIfe!
Preparing your Music for Selling in Second Life - Your SLCD:
Trax will also work with you one on one to produce your first sellable Second Life CD or SLCD. You can either port over an existing product or create a new product for sale in SL. The SLCD plays your music in SL and also delivers the songs digitally to the buyers pc. It includes cover art, lyrics, liner notes and a link to your website and can be customized anyway you choose. Also included with the SLCD is the TRAX SLCD Stage Vendor that sells your SLCD and the single songs from the SLCD. You place this on the stage when you perform live and it collects the money for you and distributes your package automatically. SLCD's are priced the same as your website prices and iTunes.
